Caline Aoun: seeing is believing
Amidst the constant flood of images and information, Caline Aoun’s exhibition seeing is believing is a place of contemplation, a counterpoint to “media noise.” This does not mean it is a secluded retreat, however, but a free space in which art inspires us to think differently about reality— and not least to deal with it differently. The artist, who lives and works in Beirut, deals with the phenomenon of virtualization, with the difficulty of understanding and grasping the circulation of data in a new way. Aoun’s reduced and poetic works lend the supposedly “invisible” process of data traffic physicality, feel, and sensuality.
